The original examination concept of take-home examinations provides for students to take home from the hand of the examiners Examination tasks received and these take home, to work on them there, as the processing time (e.g. several days) on site would take too long. The examination takes place in a home setting and, in contrast to the usually synchronous remote examination more comparable to a term paper, which also works without supervision.
The Spectrum possible didactic implementations can range from examinations with individualized examination tasks to essay examinations consisting of several questions that have to be worked on in more detail. In the latter case, a declaration of independence is usually required, similar to a traditional term paper, to ensure the student's own performance. Digital take-home examinations can be designed in very different ways, both technically and didactically: Due to the simplified provision and submission, the time requirements can vary from one hour to several days, and the form of processing ranges from the download-edit-upload variant to the use of learning platforms with free text and MC tasks.
