At a time when AI models are profiling us in the background and collecting information, open source solutions are becoming a political choice.
On April 30, Ludwig Lorenz was honored as part of Talks@eTeach and gives insights into the project in a practice-oriented online impulse Open Model Lab. The article is aimed specifically at advanced AI enthusiasts who want to develop a deeper understanding of the use and evaluation of open source AI systems.
At the center of the 45-minute impulse is the topic Digital sovereignty in the context of AI. Using concrete examples, the difference between proprietary and Open source AI models systematically worked out. Central aspects such as utilization, operating conditions, and the, Data protection, Sustainability, Added value for universities and Equal opportunities in access to AI technologies dealt with in greater depth.
In this context, technical terms are taught that are essential for a sound understanding and operation of AI models. Building on this, different architectures of AI applications, such as RAG systems, are introduced. A particular added value of the impulse lies in the integrated Hands-on phaseParticipants will have the opportunity to test the Open Model Lab directly and gain their own experience with local AI models. The aim is to develop a practical understanding of how these models can be integrated into their own AI applications.
In the following 15-minute discussion part questions are explored in greater depth and perspectives are reflected on together.
The impulse also provides an outlook on the further development of the platform. Among other things, the following are planned:
transparent Usage statistics,
one API documentation for further applications,
an overview of Computing nodes and infrastructure
We look forward to your participation and a stimulating discussion afterwards.
